Independent arrival at the hotel in the charming city of Palermo (optional private transfer on request). In the evening you will meet our tour leader and your travel companions and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, the morning will be dedicated to visiting Monreale, its immense Norman Cathedral, proclaimed the Eighth Wonder of the World, and its splendid Arab-Norman style Cloister: an admirable masterpiece of art, sculpture and inlay of semiprecious stones! Later we will discover the splendid Palermo, one of the richest cities on the island for its history and art. Palermo stands on a bay at the foot of Monte Pellegrino, a promontory described by Goethe as the most beautiful he had ever seen. While the Baroque prevails, there is a profusion of different architectural styles reflecting the multicultural past of the city: Punic walls, Art Nouveau villas, noble residences, 17th century squares, including an elegant opera house. We will visit the wonderful Arab-Norman Cathedral, the amazing Martorana Church and the amazing Palatine Chapel, a wonderful example from a historical and artistic point of view, of how apparently incompatible cultures, religions and ways of thinking can coexist. Roger II in fact employed both Byzantine and Muslim workersthan Latin. During the day of the visit, we will make a stop for a gastronomic surprise in a local bakery. Free time for lunch. Continuing our walk we will admire the Teatro Massimo and the controversial fountain of Piazza Pretoria, located in the ancient area of Kalsa and adorned with 16th century sculptures. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

This morning the tour will continue along the fascinating and renowned city of Marsala, where Garibaldi landed in May 1860. Marsala is a modern Mediterranean city, divided between sea and land, characterized by unforgettable colors: bright yellow, deep blue, strong red, white dazzling and natural green. It preserves several ruins of Phoenician, Arab and Norman dominations and a vast artistic heritage with sanctuaries and caves, hypogea, underground roads, necropolis and baths. We will discover the enchanting city center with its noble palaces, monuments and imposing Baroque churches. The guided tour of the Florio Cellars is a journey that begins in front of the majestic giant vats, built at the end of the nineteenth century and still used for the refining of Marsala. Continue inside the 3 fascinating barrel chambers, 165 meters long and running under 104 arches, under which 1,400 small barrels and about 600 larger barrels and vats of different capacities are arranged, such as c. 5,500,000 liters of Marsala wine agein silence and stillness. After a thirty minute ride through the barrel vaults, where the ancient tuff floor has been restored, we reach the avant-garde tasting rooms, where we stop for lunch and for a tasting of local wines. We will proceed to visit the famous Salt Road. Between Trapani and Marsala, the Via del Sale is now protected, partly for the interesting birdlife, and also as an important industrial archeology site; here the salt pans gave birth to one of the oldest salt mining industries in the world. Transfer to Agrigento and visit of the Valley of the Temples declared a World Heritage Site, where the remains of ancient Akragas stand among hundreds of almond trees. It has been defined by Pyndar as "the most beautiful city of mortals". Once one of the most prosperous of the island's ancient Greek cities, Agrigento features a remarkable series of 5th-century Doric temples. You will see the "Temple of Hera", the "Temple of Concord" and the "Temple of Heracles". Hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Today we will reach Piazza Armerina where we will admire the splendid polychrome mosaics of the famous Villa Romana del Casale, a World Heritage Site. The complex includes some of the largest and most beautiful Roman mosaics known. This majestic villa, which belonged to a member of the Roman senatorial aristocracy, housesprestigious mosaics representing mythological and historical episodes and hunting and entertainment scenes. After free time for lunch, departure for Ragusa Ibla and visit of its historic center, cradle of Sicilian Baroque, with its Cathedral, located in the beautiful Piazza del Duomo and the “Giardino Ibleo”. Used as the location of the very popular TV series by Commissioner Montalbano, it is now counted among the 44 Italian World Heritage Sites. This small and precious ancient city is home to more than 50 churches and many Baroque architectural treasures. We will conclude the day of visit with a tasting of typical products.
