We visit the northern part of Manhattan, to learn about the history, cultural heritage and soul of Harlem, the legendary neighborhood known throughout the world as the black Mecca of the world. This explosion of cultural pride, defined as "Harlem Renaissance" has its roots in the late 1800s, when a considerable number of African Americans, freed from centuries of slavery, migrate from the rural South to the urban north of the United States. We visit the huge St John the Divine Cathedral, the prestigious Columbia University where Barack Obama studied, the Apollo Theater which baptized sacred music monsters like Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklyn and at the end we will participate in a Baptist Mass with the traditional Gospel Choir, clapping hands with the joyful sounds of the Gospel songs, reliving the original spiritual environment of the Gospel Mass, a tradition matured since the days of slavery, when blacks were unable to read and were not allowed to participate in the white cult. The current Mass traces the history of the appreligious slave of the slaves through the vivacity of the choirs and the movements of the ceremony. Originally defined as strictly religious, the "Gospel" has become a trend genre and has given its imprint to all other types of music and popular culture.
