Description

DAY 1: BANGKOK - AYUTTAYA - LOP BURI - PHITSANULOK
Meeting with our guide at the lobby of your hotel in Bangkok and departure for the tour. It starts with a visit to the ruins of Ayuttaya and the Royal Palace of Bang Pain. Founded in 1350 Ayutthaya was the first capital of the Kingdom of Siam. Destroyed in 1767 by the Burmese army, it is now possible to visit its marvelous remains in what is called the “Ayutthaya Historical Park” already under the protection of UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Continue to Lopburi and short visit of the city. This city dates back to the Dvaravati period and was founded over 1000 years ago. Incorporated into the Khmer Empire one can find interesting remnants of the magnificent 'Angkor style' architecture. In the city center, near the most famous temples such as Prang Sam Yot and Sarn Phra Karn, you can see the curious cinomolgo macaques (Macaca Fascicularis) which feed almost exclusively on delicious crabs brought by the local population, especially during the Monkey Fest , held every year during the month of November.
Lunch in local restaurant and continuation to Phitsanulok. Free dinner and overnight at the hotel in Phitsanulok.

DAY 2: PHITSANULOK - SUKHOTHAI - SRI SATCHANALAI - LAMPANG- CHIANG MAI
After breakfast at the hotel, departure for Sukhothai to visit the "Historical Park" - since 1991 under the protection of UNESCO, you can see the ruins of what was the capital of the kingdom of the same name in the fourteenth century. Part of the walls are still visible, with one of the access gates to the city, and 26 temples of which the most important is Wat Mahathat, continuation for the visit of the archaeological sites of Sri Satchanalai and Wat Chaliang.
Lunch in a local restaurant and in the afternoon departure for Lampang to visit the beautiful temples of Wat Phra Keow and Wat Lampang Luang. Lampang, after its foundation, was the main city of the Lan Na Thai Kingdom (often abbreviated - and better known - as the Lanna Kingdom) later it was overshadowed by the cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai located further north.
The first temple, full name Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao, housed the precious Emerald Buddha between 1436 and 1468, later captured by the Laotians and now, finally, exhibited in Bangkok.
The second one, full name Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, is one of the highest examples of Lanna architecture best preserved today.
Continuation to Lampun for a short visit and, finally, continuation to Chiang Mai. Arrival and transfer to the hotel for accommodation in the rooms. Free dinner and overnight at the hotel in Chiang Mai.

DAY 3: CHIANG MAI - CHIANG RAI
After breakfast at the hotel departure for the visit of the Elephant Work Training Camp and then visit the orchid farm and then to the village inhabited by the Meo tribe of Chiang Dao. Continue to Tha Thon.
Lunch in a local restaurant and in the afternoon departure by boat for an excursion of about an hour on the river to Bann Mai Village to visit the Shan, Lisù and Akka tribes. This excursion is of particular naturalistic interest as the river flows through the teak jungle and offers moments of particular suggestion. Due to the low level of the river the excursion may be limited.
Transfer to the hotel in Chiang Rai. Free time. Free dinner and an overnight stay in hotel.

DAY 4: CHIANG RAI - GOLDEN TRIANGLE - CHIANG MAI
Full day of visits, starting with the tribal villages of the Yao and Akha ethnic groups. Stops in Mae Chan and Mae Sai, the latter located on the border with Burma where there is a rich market with products from both Burma itself and from China via the Burma Road. Visit of Chiang Saen on the banks of the Mekong River where the borders of Burma, Laos and Thailand meet, giving rise to that area, once famous for shady opium trafficking across borders, called the Golden Triangle.
Lunch in a restaurantlocal and in the afternoon return to Chiang Mai. Free dinner and overnight at the hotel in Chiang Mai.

DAY 5: CHIANG MAI CITY TOUR
After breakfast at the hotel, full day dedicated to visiting Chiang Mai, Thailand's second city also known as the "Rose of the North" for its beautiful views, mild climate and a more peaceful and relaxed lifestyle compared to chaotic Bangkok.
We visit the Doi Suthep temple, located 15 Km. From the city center and placed on a hill to reach the top of which you have to climb 309 steps, or you can use the more comfortable funicular.
Lunch in a local restaurant during the visits and in the afternoon visit the Bo Sang village famous for the handicraft production of the famous wooden umbrellas, and the village of Sankampang.
